About this course…

A Bedrock in Mining 

• The course is designed as a high-level introduction to the Mining Industry; Its intent is to raise awareness, not provide a detailed technical explanation or to educate graduate type students.
• The intended audience for this course is individuals with new responsibilities, both direct and indirect, within the Mining Sector.  They are likely to be Managers and Executives that are new to Mining; Government officials, Regulators and Agency representatives, and other similarly interested parties.
• The list of topics with the time allotted for each will define the limits to the depth and breadth of material to be presented.  (High level introduction to raise awareness)
• The course is scheduled for delivery in one week with 6 lecture hours per day.  Day 1-4 will provide a foundational understanding with Day 5 designed to inform participants of the current Opportunities and Issues in the Mining Industry.  Lectures are designed in 1-to-3-hour sessions with multiple lecturers covering respective topics.
• The Day 2 Mining Methods lecture is scheduled to be presented in the Edgar Mine underground classroom.
• A half-day tour of the Climax Mine will be scheduled for Day 4.

Continuing education credit

Colorado School of Mines will award 3.0 Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) to participants who complete this course.
