41st International Energy Workshop
Colorado School of Mines and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will co-host the 41st International Energy Workshop (IEW) in Golden, Colorado, USA, on June 13-15, 2023.
The IEW is a leading conference for the international energy analysis community—bringing together scholars, researchers, and practitioners to discuss advances for emerging energy sector issues, clean energy transition pathways, and new trends in the global energy sector.
The workshop will feature presentations on topics like managing energy sector transitions and the deployment of clean energy infrastructure, circular economy, energy transition and access for communities, energy security, and more.
We hope you join us for an exciting three days in Golden, Colorado, USA!
The next IEA-ETSAP workshop will take place during the same week as IEW 2023, on 15th – 16th June 2023 in Golden, Colorado, USA.:
Participation in the ETSAP workshop is open to all interested in energy systems modelling and free to attend. There is also an option for presentations – if you want to present your work, please include the presentation title and abstract when you register and we will consider including your contribution in our programme. Please note the deadline for the submission of abstracts for presentations in the workshop is the 28th of April 2023. The program and presentations from previous workshops are available at the ETSAP webpage: Workshops (iea-etsap.org).
ETSAP is a Technology Collaboration Program of the International Energy Agency (IEA). ETSAP functions as a consortium of member country teams and invited teams that actively cooperate to establish, maintain, and expand energy-economy-environment-engineering modelling capability. Its backbone consists of a common methodology, mainly based on the MARKAL/TIMES family of models, permitting the compilation of long-term energy scenarios and in-depth national, multi-country, and global energy and environmental scenario analyses.

IRENA side event: Planning for the renewable future: electricity demand profiles in the clean energy transition
Tuesday 13 June, Friedhoff Hall, Green Center 12:15-13:45 Lunch
The IRENA side event on the first day of IEW addresses electricity demand profiles in the clean energy transition. The event aims to gather modelling experts to better understand emerging complexities regarding the representation of electricity demand profiles in long-term modelling, as a result of new developments in sector-coupling and increased demand-side flexibility. The discussion during the event will act as valuable input to the framing and contents of IRENA’s next thematic installment of the Planning for the Renewable Future series.
