About this Symposium…
MRP Science Symposium
The U.S. Geological Survey Mineral Resources Program (MRP) Science Symposium will be held at the Colorado School of Mines (Mines) from March 19 – 21, 2024. The main objectives of the Symposium are to:
- create opportunities to get to know and network with colleagues;
- learn more about the Mineral Resources Program and plans,
- create avenues for informing and implementing Program plans, and
- advance mineral resource science and the USGS Mission.
The Symposium will include overview talks by scientists and Program staff, as well as shorter “lightning” talks by MRP scientists that will provide the background for discussion. Additionally, poster sessions, breaks and evening events will provide opportunities for networking. A full agenda will be available by early March.
An additional component of this Symposium will be to introduce the MRP Program Plan, the USGS Mine Waste Plan, the Earth MRI 10-Year Plan, and other science plans. The expected outcomes of this Symposium are to facilitate collaboration among scientists and identify pathways for implementing new projects across various MRP-funded science centers and beyond to support goals identified in these plans.
