Terry Owen is a leader in the delivery and operation of major mining projects with over 35 years of international experience. He has extensive experience handling complex, difficult projects in challenging remote locations. His background includes significant underground and open pit mine development and operations. In addition, Terry has successfully delivered projects through all stages of development: scoping, feasibility, permitting, engineering, construction, operations-team assembly, commissioning, start-up, and optimization into profitable operation. He has transformed several difficult and stressed projects into successful operating properties. He has also developed and installed project delivery, project control, and management operating systems and co-authored the Project Management for Mining handbook published by SME.
Terry has held several senior roles where he was responsible for managing capital projects at Thompson Creek Metals Co., Apex Silver Mines/Golden Minerals, Cyprus Amax Co, Freeport McMoRan, Inco Ltd. He has successfully executed projects and operation start-ups totaling over $8 billion USD in multiple countries. He also led the development of “best practices” based processes for three major corporations focused on project delivery methodology, operations synergy of engineering, procurement, business processes and business systems integration.
Robin Hickson is is a mining consultant with 50 years experience from building and operating mines around the world. Today he provides expert advice and analysis to mining companies, engineering firms and financial institutions involved in the development, expansion and operation of surface and underground mines. He has proven leadership skills along with strong project management expertise in the evaluation, acquisition, feasibility, process design, engineering, development, construction, operation and reorganization of mines and mining projects.
Robin has practical hands-on project execution and field start-up experience. He has co-authored three books for the mining industry and published numerous technical papers.
He earned his engineering degree from the Royal School of Mines in the UK and his MBA from Tulane University. Robin is a Chartered Engineer and a certified Qualified Person in Mine Engineering.
