About this course…

Renewable Energy 101

Renewable Energy (RE) 101 is a fully immersive and interactive virtual learning experience, as an introductory course providing the fundamentals of renewable energy generation. It will explain: 1) the energy generation mix, 2) how the different technologies generate electricity, 3) different energy storage technologies, 4) capital and operating costs with a cash flow analysis, 5) variables that impact energy production, 6) transmission, 7) levelized cost of energy, and 8) emissions. You will gain a working knowledge of the key criteria in renewable energy resource assessment, familiarity with the variables that impact energy production, tax benefits, how RE impacts the “Duck Curve”, curtailments, and electricity pricing, along with the importance of capacity factor in comparing different generation sources.
